Whenever I think about people naming places after themselves, or other people, my mind flashes back to two things: that scene in Superman I where Lex Luthor discovers “Otisburg” on his supervillain map, and the massive problems I always had naming cities in SimCity 2000. “Philip Wrede” doesn’t lend itself to much grandiosity, at least in the realm of place names. When I finally settled on “Wredetown” after nearly a year, I never went back. Nearly every time I have to name a place in a video game, “Wredetown” is my go-to. That, or Batman, because I have fun saying, “Welcome to Batman,” in my head.
