The classic argument among Star Trek fans has long been about the merits of Kirk versus those of Picard, but for those of us who grew up in the late ’80s and early ’90s, I think the Picard/Sisko debate carries a lot of weight. If the subject ever comes up, I’ll take Picard without a thought, any time, anywhere, but it’s tough to begrudge anybody their personal preference for a Trek captain. Unless, of course, it’s Archer; I like Quantum Leap as much as anybody, and a lot of the weaknesses that hamstrung Bakula came from the crummy writing that infected Enterprise’s first two seasons, but come on. The guy who got killed before the opening of “The Arsenal of Freedom” was more impressive.

Also, I feel my status as a Colorado native allows me to make disparaging jokes about the Rockies. I saw the Giants shellack them in the first game they ever played against one another, after all…
